모디 총리께서는 저와 형제같은 사이입니다. 지난해 국빈방문 때는 일정 내내 동행해주셨고 지하철을 타고 함께 뉴델리의 시민들을 만났습니다. 올 2월에는 추위가 물러가지 않은 서울에 오셔서 인도와 한국 간의 우정을 확인하고 2030년까지 연 교역액 500억 불을 목표로 삼기로 했습니다.

아마도 지구상에서 성장 잠재력이 가장 큰 나라가 인도일 것입니다. 13억 인구에 연 7%가 넘는 경제성장률을 기록하고 있습니다. 우리 위성 '우리별3호'를 쏘아올려주었고 달탐사를 계획하고 있을 정도로 우주과학에도 뛰어납니다. 인도와의 우정은 우리에게도 큰 기회가 될 것입니다.

인도는 모디 총리님과 함께 잘 사는 인도, 아시아의 강국으로 성장해나갈 것입니다. 모디 총리께서는 평화를 사랑하며 인도의 미래를 위해 확고한 전망을 갖고 계십니다. 모디 총리를 선택해주신 인도 국민들께 경의를 표합니다. 모디 총리께서는 자신을 선택해주신 국민들뿐만 아니라 모든 인도 국민들의 이웃이 되어주실 것입니다.

The people of India once again chose to stand by Prime Minister Modi. They elected a leader who will help India truly flourish through his warm and harmonious leadership. I would like to offer my congratulations to Prime Minister Modi who has safely navigated the month-long election process and claimed ultimate victory.

Prime Minister Modi is like a brother to me. He was by my side throughout my state visit to India last year, and we met the people of New Delhi together while riding on the metro. In February this year, he braved the chilly weather to visit Seoul and reaffirmed the friendship between Korea and India. We set the goal of increasing our bilateral trade volume to reach the 50 billion USD mark by 2030.

India is a country that is blessed with probably the biggest potential for economic growth in the whole world. India has been recording an annual growth rate surpassing 7% while boasting a population of 1.3 billion people. It is renowned for its excellence in space science, having launched the South Korean-produced satellite KITSAT-3 and possessing plans for lunar exploration. Friendship with India will open up great opportunities for Korea as well.

With Prime Minister Modi, India will grow into a prosperous country that ranks among the strongest powers in Asia. Prime Minister Modi is a peace-loving leader who possesses a clear vision for the future of India. I would like to convey my high regard for the Indian people who chose Prime Minister Modi. He will be a true neighbor to not only those who voted for him, but also to all the Indian people.
